Plaster eagles were a cheap and easy way to produce high quality eagles for a variety of purposes. These eagles ranged from small to extremely large. They are often painted gold or silver and from a distance are hard to distinguish from a high quality metal eagle.
Given their method of manufacture and their material, many examples are damaged or destroyed.
