Eagle Molds

Misc > Eagle Molds

Many of the eagle molds used pre-1945 were destroyed or lost to history. This was due to the de-nazification effort, the need for raw materials, the decommissioning of some styles or simply via the destruction of war. Occasionally originals do surface and the three below examples are known.

Additionally, there are a number of reproduction/fake molds that are shown – below are some examples of these used to create modern copies of original items:

Kroll mold:

This mold is made of thick steel and contains the mold for a “Kroll” style political eagle. The eagle once produced from this mold is XXxYYxZZ in dimensions. You can see the screw holes and holding slots to keep the mold in place.

Wall/Building mold:

The mold was found in a cement factory in Germany. It is made of natural rubber. The eagle created from this mold is large (1.12m wide). Given the location it was found it was believed to have been made to create large concrete eagles (possibly for buildings?). Below is shown the mold and an example eagle made from plaster by its owner.

Pressure plate:

This is a period piece used in making plaques. It was used by the Prussian Mining and Lodging company of Berlin.

Reichsbahn Mold 1:

The following mold is believed to be a post war model to create replica deutsche reichsbahn (railway) eagles. There are no known authenticated Reichsbahn molds surviving the period.

Reichsbahn Mold 2:

The following mold is believed to be a post war model to create replica deutsche reichsbahn (railway) eagles. There are no known authenticated Reichsbahn molds surviving the period.

Reichbahn mold output 1:

Below is an example of a molded HE Reichsbahn eagle. It is estimated this is a reproduction from a modern mold. HE is a widely reproduced Reichsbahn eagle.

Reichbahn mold output 2:

Below is an example of a molded GJ Reichsbahn eagle. It is estimated this is a reproduction from a modern mold. GJ is one of the rarer Reichsbahn eagle makers.

Desk eagle Mold:

The following silicone mold (in a wooden box) is believed to be a post war model to create replica desk eagles.
