Rail WEHAG

Eagles > Reichsbahn Eagles > Rail WEHAG

Maker: WEHAG (Werke der Stadt Halle-AG)

Availability: Very Common

The WEHAG eagles have one set of markers on them. The makers mark is located on the main body towards the top (from the back).

Most of the eagles have a major flaw on the back of them – this can be observed on the reverse left hand wing. This is believed to be as a result of the mold being damaged and then repaired. This is unusual since the quality normally required of these eagles would mean that such damage would result in the mold being discarded. RZA rules also require a damaged eagle to be destroyed. In addition to the obvious repair work there is also a break line visible on the reverse of both wings.

A – Body markings

These marking had a mix of indented and raised markings

1 – Material: GAL Mg Si  IF 13(The composition of the material used to make the alloy – Aluminium, Magnesium, Silicon). Note the dash between GAL and Mg and Si. This marking is raised. It has been observed that this material designation has been double struck in some examples making it more difficult to read.

2 – Makers Mark – The name WEHAG in an oval. This marking is raised.

3 – Flaw in the mold– There is evidence that the mold was broken and repaired – this has come through on the casts.

4 – Wing break from the mold – Visible break line on the wing from the mold.
