Found in the town of Helmstedt Germany in the 1980s. It was found at a former ‘Fliegerhorst’ in Grassleben Germany. A ‘Fliegerhorst’ is the name for an air field that was used during WWII. This eagle was placed on the outside wall of a barracks or office building. It was cast iron, dull in color since it had been buried for many years. It was spray painted gold. Some of the paint has flaked off on the left wing.
