Large wooden wall eagle of the NSDAP Gauleitung Saarpfalz
This eagle is a three-part eagle on an oak leaf wreath with a swastika. The separate wings are attached with fixed reverse Wooden strips. Above them is a metal label with the inscription “Property of the NSDAP Gauleitung Saarpfalz”. There are remnants of a greenish paint finish. SThe Gau Rheinpfalz, which was established in 1925, was renamed Gau Pfalz-Saar in 1935 when it was reintegrated into the German Reich. In March 1936 named Gau Saarpfalz before it became Gau Westmark in 1940 with the partial incorporation of Alsace-Lorraine. Gauleiter was Josef Bürckel from 1935 to 1944 and after his death Willi Stöhr took over the official duties until the end of the war.
