A number of wooden eagles have been stamped “VERWALTUNG OBERSALZBERG” indicating they were from the Administration (VERWALTUNG) buildings located in the Obersalzberg area. This page explores two different styles with similar markings.

Style 1: This eagle has 4 versions and is constructed in three vertical sections.

Availability: Rare (4 known), 2 gold gilded, 2 dark stained

Size: 36 inches tall and 26 1/2 inches wide

Heavy gilt application over the gesso. The reverse has two recessed steel bar hooks. Stamped “VERWALTUNG OBERSALZBERG 1937”. Also marked “4” which would indicate that at least several others existed.

This hardwood carving of an eagle clenching a swastika in a wreath is finished in gold paint, with a steel hanging bracket installed into the back
