Example 1 – Curly Wing wall eagles in iron and bronze

Probably the most heavily reproduced of all Third Reich period wall eagles – these have been reproduced in both iron and brass. The original examples had very sharp details and rear desk stands and/or wall mountings – the reproductions are nearly always missing these sharp details and features.

Note: This desk stand version is heavily reproduced. An example catalog from a seller of reproductions is shown below:

Example 2 – Fake Nuremberg Eagle

This fake eagle is loosely modelled on the RZM M3/100 (Emmrich & Schonnig) examples but they share very few similarities with the originals. These are mostly known known by collectors as the ‘Xtruckers’ style of fake desk eagle and originate in India and Pakistan.

Example 3 – Fake Nuremberg Eagle

This fake Nuremberg eagle is a recast copy in bronze of an RZM 3/28 HB example that is incorrectly marked with the symbol M3/100 used by a different manufacturer -(Emmrich & Schonnig).

Example 4 – Fake Nuremberg Eagle

This fake Nuremberg eagles are labelled as ‘Recreations’ by the seller. Easy to spot due to their modern construction in solid bronze and a distinctive chocolate patina and mis-shapen/ mis-formed swastika that is a result of poor quality re-casting.

Example 5 – Fake Nuremberg Eagle

This reproduction Nuremberg eagle is known as the ‘M3/90’ Fake. Clearly re-cast from an M3/100 example but without the details or quality.

Example 6 – Reproduction Pabst Desk Eagle

These fake Pabst eagles are labelled as ‘Recreations’ by the seller. Easy to spot due to their modern sloppy construction in bronze with a distinctive chocolate patina and poor details they also have a mis-shapen/ mis-formed swastika that occurred during the re-casting

Example 7 – Fantasy or Fiction Desk Eagle 1

This eagle has never been seen in period photo’s or catalogues and have little resemblance in quality or style to any known original examples that are found. They are also often labelled recreation eagles by the manufacturers and as reproduction eagles when re-sold by dealers.

Example 8 – Fantasy or Fiction Desk Eagle 2

This example is often seen mounted to period desk sets (ink-wells etc) & clocks but there is no indication that they were produced during the Third Reich period and are more likely to have been added recently (pimped-up) to sell these items at a premium. This eagle has also never been seen in period photo’s or catalogues and have little resemblance in quality or style to any known original examples that are found.

Example 9 – Possible ‘Period Re-Cast’ 1

Cast from an original RZM M3/100 Emmrich and Schonnig Nuremberg eagle, this example was purportedly re-cast during the Third Reich period in bronze from the original white-metal (zinc) example and awarded as a higher quality example. In the absence of solid provenance such as documentation or a period photo in use, this claim is difficult to substantiate and examples such as these should be purchased with caution as their originality to the period cannot be either proved or disproved.

Example 10 – Possible ‘Period Re-Cast’ 2

Cast from an original RZM M3/28 Luftwaffe desk or wall plaque eagle, this example was also purportedly re-cast during the Third Reich period in bronze from the original zinc example and awarded as a higher quality example. In the absence of solid provenance such as documentation or a period photo in use, this claim is also difficult to substantiate and examples such as these should be purchased with caution as their originality to the period cannot be either proved or disproved.
