Example 1- Reproduction Rudolph Menshiga Kroll style wall eagle

This eagle was re-cast from an original bronze example (Rudolph Menshiga) in aluminum. The construction material is incorrect, the casting quality is extremely poor, the size is incorrect and the missing details seen in the originals make this wall eagle a relatively easy reproduction to spot – still a medium quality reproduction in three pieces make this a nice affordable option for the collector that is happy to knowingly display a reproduction with other memorabilia.

Example 2 – Reproduction Reno (Gebruder Wein/ Reno) Kroll Style wall eagle

This eagle was re-cast from an original aluminum example (Gebruder Wein/Reno), this time in bronze. Again, the construction material, the poor quality of the cast, the size and the missing attention to the details seen in the originals make this wall eagle an easy reproduction to spot.

Example 3 – Another reproduction Reno (Gebruder Wein/ Reno) Kroll Style wall eagle

This example was recast from an original in aluminum again in aluminum (Gebruder Wein/Reno), the obvious tell- tale signs of a reproduction with these is the remnants of the red sand still attached from the modern sand casting technique used to manufacture them and the pocked finish which is missing nearly all of the quality details of the original. Another indication of the recasting process is the size, the wings have shrunk in length by around half an inch each – the smaller size of the reproductions is another often seen feature of recast eagles due to the shrinkage that occurs during recasting.

Example 4 – Reproduction Anton Henn style wall eagle

Some fakes can be spotted immediately due to the extremely poor quality of the recast, this one has only the remotest resemblance to the high quality bronze casting of the original M3/120 Anton Henn wall eagles.

Example 5 – Fake Kurt Schmid Ehmen Wall eagle in aluminum.

This example is immediately recognizable as a very poor copy of the original Kurt Schmid-Ehmen Reich Chancellery wall eagle originally hollow cast in bronze. This poor quality post-war solid re-cast in aluminum displays almost none of the original detailing present on the original example. When this item sold at auction, the buyer was immediately notified via the collector forums that it was a clearly a fake but the buyer chose to keep it to display in a collection presumably to demonstrate the differences between it and the original.
