RP V

Maker: “V”

Availability: Common

The “V” eagle has two makers marks on the back. The makers marks are located on the backs of the eagles wings.

Variations

This maker has two variations of marking on the eagle;

  • Version 1: “V V” – This version has a letter “V” raised on each wing of the eagle (from the reverse)
  • Version 2: “Ʌ V” – This version has a raised letter “V” on the right wing and an inverted letter “V” on the left wing. This is most likely the result of the mold being put together incorrectly. It is thought the original intent was to match Version 1 and have both “V” letters the same.

Other markings:

A number of eagles have the two casting holes/injection marks left by the molding process – examples shown below. These are particularly visible on “V” eagles but not seen in other makers.

Note: There is an example of an additional mark on a “Ʌ V” version below. There also seems to be some numbers near a mount – 30?, 36?. The working appears to be “F Hudeg Wien” or “E Hudeg Wien”. (Vienna)
