Maker: “ERNO”.

This maker has the letters “ERNO” encased in a rectangle located above the top left hand of the swastika (on the back). The known examples are 900mm (35″). Very few examples of this maker are found and little is known of them. On the body of the known examples there is the following markings: Pd – the chemical element symbol for Palladium. Palladium is part of the Platinum group of metals. Though quite expensive and rare today, Palladium was not viewed as such 75 years ago. The Germans used it in the processing of camera film. Both Platinum and Palladium enhances the appearance to be more silvery and brighter, hence the reason that it is used today in manufacturing expensive jewellery.), GAL Mg Si (material designation), RZA 7, BLN. On one example the studs are conical and have a screw hole in the top, whereas the other one has the normal threaded bolts. The non-threaded example appears to have been painted and shows signs common with many reproductions.
